Mi nombre es Miriam Bellone. Nací en Juan Lacaze (departamentoto de Colonia), en un hogar de obreros textiles. Desde muy pequeña estuve en contacto con ese mundo casi mágico de lanas y colores, oyendo hablar de telares, urdimbres y tramas... sin imaginar que todo ese universo me acompañaría a lo largo de mi vida. Durante varios años incursioné en diferentes disciplinas, tales como el tapiz, distintos tejidos, hilado manual y también investigando sobre tintes naturales. Desde hace más de veinticinco años estoy dedicada al tejido en telar de bajo lizo, empleando las mismas herramientas antiguas que dieron luego paso a la industria. Utilizo varias clases de fibras, que tiño y mezclo para lograr texturas diferentes cada vez... lo que hace que mi trabajo de cada día sea diferente y apasionante.

My name is Miriam Bellone. I was born in Juan Lacaze (province of Colonia), the daughter of textile workers. I spent my childhood in touch with that almost magic world of wool and colours, listening to my elders talking about looms, warp and weft ... without imagining that that whole universe would be my companion throughout my life. For many years I worked on many different techniques, such as tapestry, various fabrics, manual spinning, and I have also looked into natural dyes.
For more than twenty five years now, I have devoted myself to low-headle loom weaving, using the same old tools that later gave way to industry. I make use of several kinds of fibers which I previously dye and mix in order to get different textures each time ... and this makes my everyday work varied and exciting.
